Javier Camarena Galas

Spinto´s major challenge was the organization of these galas together with Bellas Artes Opera. We started by identifying a civil society foundation of proven transparency, honesty and ability to deliver the expected results. We selected the Duerme Tranquilo foundation for its track record in applying every peso it receives to the cause it supports. The selected cause was the reconstruction of the health center in the community of Asunción Ixtaltepec in Oaxaca. Our next step was to secure the sponsorship of the Art and Culture division of Grupo Salinas thanks to which we were able to donate more resources to the foundation´s cause. We also obtained the support of Grupo Habita that sponsored a fund-raising brunch for the Oaxaca project. The two galas took place on April 9th and 12th in the Bellas Artes Palace. With their revenue and additional support by the foundation a new health center was built which will benefit 15,000 people from Ixtaltepec and surrounding communities. The center has a special area solely dedicated to families. In addition to the center, Javier Camarena donated a machine for electroconvulsive therapy to the National Neurology Institute, a member of the Duerme Tranquilo foundation.
